So I'm guessing there is something not complete about your tags. When I navigate via my music > album, these all show up separately by artist. I just checked, and I have lots of albums with the same names (greatest hits). Garym: "You shouldn't have to do this (change track numbers). Are you sure you need the album sorting tags? It seems like if the album artists are different, that should be enough. But it's already odd that FLAC works differently from WMA. Odd that FLAC should work differently from Apple lossless. What a cool idea! I tried it right away, but it didn't work. Moley6knipe: "Add some album sorting tags, that's a foolproof way of doing it." In fact, I don't see the option for this anywhere, but it may be there. I didn't have to do anything special (tell SbS to treat greatest hit name in a special way). Double check that all these albums have an ARTIST tag that is filled in, etc. You shouldn't have to do this (change track numbers). I presume that this solution would work for albums with multiple tracks, although I haven't tried it. Setting the track number to be "1" on all versions causes them to be treated as separate albums. On some CDs, it may be the first, on others the seventh, etc. What works is to set the track numbers the same. I tried adding "discnumber" tags, figuring that if each album had the same disc number, SBS would recognize them as different. Is there a way to fix this without inventing a unique album title for each version of the piece? The Group Discs option is set to "Treat multi-disc sets as multiple albums." The albums are stored in separate locations. I do not have this problem with WMA files. Why isn't having different album artists enough to distinguish these as separate albums? There is only one entry for all of them in any album list, and if I select to "add" that album, all of them get added. The strange thing is that these albums are treated as a single album. (The Album Artist tag lists the composer and the performers, separated by a separator character.) Each is tagged as an album with the same title, although the Album Artist is different. I sometimes have multiple "albums" with the same title, for example "The Lark Ascending." That is, I have four or five versions of this piece, so the composer is the same but the performers are different.
